Deskfactor allows a single user account to belong to multiple organizations.

This guide explains how to switch between organizations and access the correct workspace.

Before you begin

Make sure that:

  • You are signed in to Deskfactor
  • Your account belongs to more than one organization
  • Your membership in the organization is active
  • You have accepted any pending organization invitation

Each organization may assign you a different role and set of permissions.

Step 1: Open the organization selector

After signing in, locate the organization selector in the Deskfactor header or navigation menu.

The selector displays the name of the organization you are currently using.

Select the organization name to open the list of organizations connected to your account.

Step 2: Select an organization

Choose the organization you want to access.

Deskfactor will switch your active workspace and load the selected organization.

Depending on the application state, the page may refresh before the new workspace is displayed.

Step 3: Confirm the active organization

After switching, confirm that the correct organization name appears in the organization selector.

You should also verify that the projects, tasks, users, and other information belong to the selected organization.

What changes when you switch organizations?

When you switch organizations, Deskfactor updates the workspace context.

The following information may change:

  • Dashboard data
  • Projects
  • Sprints
  • Epics
  • Tasks and bugs
  • Team members
  • Clients
  • Resources
  • Notifications
  • Organization settings
  • Available features
  • Your role and permissions

Data from one organization is kept separate from data belonging to another organization.

Roles and permissions across organizations

Your role may be different in each organization.

For example, you may be:

  • An Organization Administrator in one organization
  • A Project Manager in another organization
  • A Developer or Tester in another organization

The menus and actions available to you will depend on the role and permissions assigned in the active organization.

Returning to your previous organization

Open the organization selector again and select the organization you want to return to.

Deskfactor may remember the organization you used most recently and open it automatically the next time you sign in.

Common issues

The organization selector may not be shown when your account belongs to only one organization.

It may also be hidden depending on the page layout or screen size. Check the main navigation menu or your profile menu.

An organization may not appear when:

  • The invitation has not been accepted
  • You signed in using a different email address
  • Your organization membership was removed
  • Your membership was blocked
  • The organization was suspended or deactivated
  • The invitation was sent to another email address

Contact the Organization Administrator if an expected organization is unavailable.

Deskfactor may open the organization you used most recently.

Use the organization selector to switch to the correct workspace.

Confirm that the organization name has changed in the selector.

Refresh the page if the previous information is still displayed.

If the issue continues, sign out and sign in again.

Features and permissions are configured separately for each organization.

Your access may depend on:

  • Your assigned role
  • Organization-level permissions
  • Project membership
  • The selected plan
  • Your membership status

Contact the Organization Administrator for the organization where access is missing.

Accept the invitation before trying to switch to the organization.

After accepting it, the new organization should appear in the organization selector.

Security recommendations

To avoid working in the wrong workspace:

  • Confirm the active organization before creating or updating information
  • Check the organization name before uploading files
  • Verify the active workspace before inviting users
  • Do not share your account with another person
  • Sign out when using a shared or unfamiliar device

Expected result

After switching organizations:

  • The selected organization becomes your active workspace
  • Organization-specific data is displayed
  • Your role and permissions are updated for that organization
  • You can work with the projects and resources available in the selected workspace
